Mehendi—or henna—is a temporary body art, that is part of traditional Indian wedding celebrations. A Mehndi party is a pre-wedding celebration during which the bride has henna applied to her palms and feet. The tradition symbolizes various blessings, luck, joy, and love! All women are welcome to get mehndi done & stay to mingle.
The word Sangeet literally translates to music and describes an event during an Indian wedding that celebrates the union of not only the couple but the bonding of both families. The Sangeet is marked by dance performances by family members and close friends of the wedding party followed by an open dance floor to commence the wedding festivities!
A baraat is a celebratory wedding procession for the groom involving live music and dancing. Typically the groom and guests will dance and proceed to be greeted at the venue by his bride.
While Indian clothes are by no means required, Indian attire is extremely accessible! Lehengas and sarees are the most common options for women. A lehenga is a two-piece outfit that includes a top (usually cropped) with a full, high-waisted skirt. A saree is a long piece of fabric, often made of silk, that's used to wrap around the body. Men are encouraged to wear a sherwani or kurta, which is a long coat-like top accompanied by pants. Below are a few suggested websites where you can purchase or rent Indian outfits. Please reach out if we can be of any assistance. We are happy to help! Please refrain from wearing red as traditionally that is what the bride wears!
